Tetapi dengan kuota yang terbatas serta antrian yang sampai puluhan tahun, akan membuat giliran seseorang 1/Panggilan haji 'tlah tiba,Umat Islam menyambut bahagia.Wa lillahi 'alannasi hijjul baiti,Perintah Allah 'tlah datang menghampiriNiat berangkat diku Kemudian berhaji, dengan firmannya: "Walillahi `alannasi hijjul baiti manistata'a ilaihi sabila. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." — Qur'an 2115 His MercyAnother aspect of this name refers to the vastness of Allah's mercy encompasses. His mercy, knowledge, and power are infinite. It is the work of shaitan to make you believe that your plea for forgiveness will be rejected. The Qur'an and hadith affirm that our Lord is merciful. We may have done terrible things in the past. We may have repeated the same mistake to the point where it seems unredeemable. But how can we deny ourselves the mercy of Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ when He says ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ يَعِدُكُمُ ٱلۡفَقۡرَ وَيَأۡمُرُكُم بِٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَعِدُكُم مَّغۡفِرَةٗ مِّنۡهُ وَفَضۡلٗاۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٞ Ash Shaitaanu ya'idukumul faqra wa ya'murukum bilfahshaaa'i wallaahu ya'idukum maghfiratam minhu wa fadlaa; wallaahu Waasi'un 'Aleem English Translation"Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." — Qur'an 2268 On the authority of Anas may Allah be pleased with him, who said I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say Allah the Almighty said O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you were then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it. It was related by at-Tirmidhi also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal. Its chain of authorities is sound.[1] ۞قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Qul yaa'ibaadiyal lazeena asrafoo 'alaaa anfusihim laa taqnatoo mirrahmatil laah; innal laaha yaghfiruz zunooba jamee’aa; innahoo Huwal Ghafoorur Raheem English Translation"Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" — Qur'an 3953 Al-Wasi in divorce وَإِن يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغۡنِ ٱللَّهُ كُلّٗا مِّن سَعَتِهِۦۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعًا حَكِيمٗا Wa iny-yatafarraqaa yughnil laahu kullam min sa’atih; wa kaanal laahu Waasi’an Hakeemaa English Translation"But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance. And ever is Allah Encompassing and Wise." — Qur'an 4130 Another connotation we can infer from this ayah is Allah is Al-Wasi, the one whose provision is all-encompassing. In extenuating circumstances, divorce happens, and when it does, Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ reassures that both parties should not fear scarcity, clawing to one-up each other. Reconciliation and protecting the sanctity of marriage should be the priority, but if that ship has presumably sailed, then seek fairness as Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ will enrich both from His abundance. وَلَا تُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِمَن تَبِعَ دِينَكُمۡ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰٓ أَحَدٞ مِّثۡلَ مَآ أُوتِيتُمۡ أَوۡ يُحَآجُّوكُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّكُمۡۗ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡفَضۡلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤۡتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٞ Wa laa tu'minooo illaa liman tabi'a deenakum qul innal hudaa hudal laahi ai yu'taaa ahadum misla maaa ooteetum aw yuhaaajjookum inda Rabbikum, qul innal fadla biyadil laah; yu'teehi mai yashaaa; wallaahu Waasi'un 'Aleem English Translation"And do not trust except those who follow your religion.” Say, “Indeed, the [true] guidance is the guidance of Allah. [Do you fear] lest someone be given [knowledge] like you were given or that they would [thereby] argue with you before your Lord?” Say, “Indeed, [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah – He grants it to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Wise." — Qur'an 373 ReflectionAmong these verses where Al-Wasi is mentioned, you see the pairing of names with the all-merciful, the all-knowing, and the all-wise. This name furthers the perfection of all His attributes. They are all-encompassing and have no extent to which they can be depleted or diminished. Imam Ghazali writes, "His knowledge be considered, the sea of things He knows has no shore; in fact the seas would be exhausted if they were ink for His words." The believer benefits from knowing Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is Al-Wasi in that they understand their Lord loves them. His mercy extends to all and knows no boundaries. It is all-encompassing and vast. This should bring great relief to the one who turns to Him, often asking for His forgiveness. It was narrated from Aisha ra that she said "Praise be to Allah Whose hearing encompasses all voices.[2] We also must look within ourselves; we are constrained and limited in many ways. Our intellect has boundaries, and our physical body has constraints, but can we say honestly we've stretched to see what's possible? Are we living close to these limits? Probably not. We are all likely to be living well beneath the potential Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ has made us capable of. We have a lot to offer and a lot to learn. Our connection to this name is through the expansion of our knowledge, our deen, and our character. Al-Wali is one of those names that is deduced and, therefore, not included on the list of certain scholars. This includes Ibn Mandah, Ibn Hazm, and Ibn Hajar, among others. However, others, such as Imam al-Bayhaqi and Imam al-Ghazali, have included this name in their lists. Note as an attribute to describe Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ it is valid. To be a ruler...This name is also not to be confused with one we've already discussed in Al-Waliyy ٱلْوَلِيُّ - The Protecting Associate. Here Al-Wali ٱلْوَالِي refers to being the ruler or guardian, and this encompasses three qualities. Imam Ghazali mentions that being a governor requires organization, power, and action. Failure in any of these respects relinquishes the title of being called the true ruler. Below are just a few verses that mention Allah's complete dominion. It demonstrates how He is the best planner, the all-powerful king, and the one who manages the affairs of all things. From the Qur'anThere are no direct mentions of the name Al-Wali, but we can understand this attribute further by verses that describe this quality from the Qur'an. وَإِذۡ يَمۡكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيُثۡبِتُوكَ أَوۡ يَقۡتُلُوكَ أَوۡ يُخۡرِجُوكَۚ وَيَمۡكُرُونَ وَيَمۡكُرُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡمَٰكِرِينَ Wa iz yamkuru bikal lazeena kafaroo liyusbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijook; wa yamkuroona wa yamkurul laahu wallaahu khairul maakireen English Translation"And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners." — Qur'an 830 قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ مَٰلِكَ ٱلۡمُلۡكِ تُؤۡتِي ٱلۡمُلۡكَ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَنزِعُ ٱلۡمُلۡكَ مِمَّن تَشَآءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَآءُۖ بِيَدِكَ ٱلۡخَيۡرُۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ Qulil laahumma Maalikal Mulki tu’til mulka man tashaaa’u wa tanzi’ul mulka mimman tashhaaa’u wa tu’izzu man tashaaa’u wa tuzillu man tashaaa’u biyadikal khairu innaka alaa kulli shai’in Qadeer English Translation"Say, “O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent." — Qur'an 326 ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ خَـٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَكِيلٌۭ Zaalikumul laahu Rabbukum laaa ilaaha illaa huwa khaaliqu kulli shai’in fa’budooh; wa huwa alaa kulli shai’inw Wakeel English Translation"That is Allah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things." — Qur'an 3102 ٱللَّهُ وَلِيُّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يُخۡرِجُهُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَوۡلِيَآؤُهُمُ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتُ يُخۡرِجُونَهُم مِّنَ ٱلنُّورِ إِلَى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِۗ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ Allaahu waliyyul lazeena aamanoo yukhrijuhum minaz zulumaati ilan noori wallazeena kafarooo awliyaaa’uhumut Taaghootu yukhrijoonahum minan noori ilaz zulumaat; ulaaa’ika Ashaabun Naari hum feehaa khaalidoon section 34 English Translation"Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve – their allies are Taghut. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein." — Qur'an 2257 ReflectionThe believer benefits from knowing that Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ is Al-Wali. He understands that real control comes from the commandments of whatever Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ wills. No one can dictate otherwise. It should further solidify the notion of reliance upon Him for all matters. He is the one who organizes the plan, puts it into action, and then preserves it. Shaykh Tosun Barak writes, "the whole of creation is governed by Allah's knowledge and power not a leaf moves without His will. Neither is the movement of the leaf disconnected from other things moved by the same wind, by the same will." So all matters are in the care of Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ, our being is part of a divine order He has planned. He is Al-Wali The Ruler and Al-Waliyy The Protecting Associate. But one must realize that what may be good for you may not be in the way you want. Each caliphate asked Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ for wellbeing and protection, yet Umar Ibn Al-Khattab ra was martyred. Even Ali ibn Abi Talib ra was killed and martyred. Some may wonder about the justice in that, but the real reward is in the hereafter. The reward of one's actions is not necessarily manifested in this life. If it is, that is a blessing or a gift from Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ, but it shouldn't be the primary motivation. It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Zaid bin 'Amr bin Nufail said "The Messenger of Allah was one of the Ten given glad tidings of Paradise. He said 'Abu Bakr will be in Paradise; 'Umar will be in Paradise; 'Uthman will be in Paradise; 'Ali will be in Paradise; Talhah will be in Paradise; Zubair will be in Paradise; Sa'd will be in Paradise; 'Abdur-Rahman will be in Paradise." He was asked 'Who will be the ninth?' He said 'I will.'" "Benar, dari Sampang, Madura," jawabnya dengan aksen campuran Madura-Melayu. Rupanya pria bernama Wahid, 55, ini bekerja di Malaysia. Dia sudah 20 tahun tinggal di negeri jiran dengan profesi sebagai pekerja di sektor swasta. Siang itu, Wahid menggunakan gamis warna hijau toska dan peci putih. Dia juga bawa tas kecil warna cokelat Pria yang memiliki anak satu ini mengaku berada di Mekah untuk menunaikan ibadah haji dengan cara tidak lazim, yakni bukan menggunakan visa haji. Dia menggunakan visa pekerja/bisnis melalui sebuah perusahaan Travel Haji dan Umrah berinisial A. "Saya masuk kategori istithaah mampu maka saya wajib berhaji. Ada tawaran ya saya ambil. Saya membayar Rp90 juta untuk perjalanan haji selama 1 bulan," ungkapnya. Wahid mengaku sejauh ini aman-aman saja berhaji, baik saat melewati pemeriksaan imigrasi di bandara King Fahd Riyadh dan selanjutnya di bandara King Abdul Aziz Jeddah, atau pun ketika tinggal di hotel di Madinah dan Mekah. "Tapi rasa was-was ditangkap aparat Arab Saudi tetap ada," tuturnya. Menurutnya, yang membuatnya mengambil jalan pintas berhaji secara ilegal adalah karena masa tunggu yang lama, yakni selama 22 tahun untuk calon haji di Pulau Madura. "Kalau saya menunggu selama 22 tahun saya keburu meninggal dunia, pungkasnya. Menanggapi hal itu, Kepala Biro Humas, Data, dan Informasi Mastuki tidak mengamini bila berdalih istithaah seenaknya pergi ke baitullah dengan segala cara. "Sejak zaman Belanda, pemberangkatan haji dari Tanah Air sudah terorganisir. Misalnya oleh Nahdlatul Ulama. Negara wajib melindungi warga negaranya, baik di dalam atau luar negeri. Apa yang terjadi bila negara membiarkan warganya naik haji dengan cara masing-masing? Tentu berantakan," kata Mastuki, Senin 6/8 Menurutnya, pengertian Walillahi `alannasi hijjul baiti manistatha’a ilaihi sabila mengerjakan haji adalah kewajiban manusia terhadap Allah, yaitu bagi orang yang sanggup mengadakan perjalanan ke Baitullah.” QS. Ali Imran 97. Maknanya, kata Mastuki, tidak hanya mampu atau sanggup, melainkan jalannya harus sampai dengan benar. "Pemahaman keliru sebagian masyarakat soal istithaah harus diluruskan. Tidak bisa sak karepe dewe alias semau gue," tandas doktor ilmu sejarah Islam ini. Karena beratnya ibadah yang dilakukan, maka haji juga disebut dengan jihad maksudnya diperlukan kesungguhan dari setiap orang yang berhaji. Rasulullah saw, juga memberi penekanan bagi umat Islam untuk melakukan safar/perjalanan kepada tiga masjid, yaitu Masjidil Haram, Masjidku Masjid Nabawi dan Masjidil Aqsha di Palestina. Tidaklah berlebihan, bila dikatakan safar untuk haji merupakan rihlah muqaddasah perjalanan yang suci. Perjalanan haji tidaklah sama dengan rekreasi, tur atau wisata biasa. Tetapi haji adalah perjalanan suci yang dituju adalah untuk menemukan fitrah dirinya, di hadapan zat yang suci, yaitu Allah swt. Untuk itu pula biaya haji harus suci/bersih, niatnya ikhlas semata-mata mengharapkan ridha-Nya, bukan ridha manusia, yang akhirnya meraih haji mabrur.
