Journey to the West, a classic Chinese novel by Wu Cheng'en (Ruzhong). Published in the 16th century, it narrates mythological Chinese tales. First part deals with the Monkey "Sun Wukong" who loots the heavens. Second part, the Pig "Zhu Bajie", i.e. "Eight Precepts Pig," tastes his cosmic issues sometimes in conflict with the Monkey.
Here are two examples from the 1592 JTTW: 1) Wang (็) appears in the royal title of the " Queen Mother " (Wangmu niangniang, ็ๆฏ ๅจๅจ), the high-ranking Daoist goddess who owns the immortal peach groves; and 2) Ta (ไป) is used to refer to the female Bodhisattva Guanyin ( ่ง้ณ ).
